Sarah came to me for her first photoshoot as an aspiring model, looking for boudoir and portraits for her portfolio. Her tattoos were so gorgeously displayed with her outfits, we included photos of her pieces. This photoshoot inspired this entire endeavor to help tattoo artists get gorgeous photos of their work!

You have a story to tell
Can my tattoo artist and I split the cost for tattoo photography?
Absolutely! If you and your tattoo artist are in agreement that you'd like to share the photos from our photoshoot and split the cost between you both, I'll create two separate invoices with one contract you'll both sign. The best session(s) to book when splitting the cost are for "Tattoo Portraits Only," to focus on the artwork. If you'd like personal portraits additionally, book a consultation and I'll create a custom quote where everyone wins!
What photos will be shared with my tattoo artist?
When you book a portrait session with a tattoo artist license added-on, we'll go over the pieces we're photographing ahead of time and I'll map out the time needed. Unlike a Tattoo Portrait that's focused solely on the artwork and will yield more variety of photos for the tattoo artist, this add-on will have three photos per piece to share: one close-up detail shot, one full piece angle, and one wide angle. These may naturally be captured during our session depending on their placement, or we'll spend a short and focused part of our session getting the right angle. Your photos will NEVER be shared without your permission by me, so when the gallery is delivered I'll create a separate folder of photos to approve to send to your artist.
Can I remain anonymous in the photos sent to my artist?
Of course! While face tattoos and certain placements make anonymity difficult (although with photoshop and censoring notable features, definitely doable!) most tattoo placements can be photographed while maintaining your anonymity. Your photos will never be shared with your artist without your permission, so you'll approve the photos they'll receive as part of the experience.
Do I have to share them with my tattoo artist?
Absolutely not! Not every tattoo experience is positive with the artist or the piece. We can document a more complicated relationship with your art without sharing it with your tattoo artist. But if you love your ink and loved your experience with your artist... it would be way cooler if you did.
Wait... this is all new to me. Who owns the photos?
Copyright law and contracts, it's the suuuuuper sexy part of photography. Rules and words! Here's an overview: anyone who takes a photo owns the copyright automatically. Photographers rarely relinquish their copyright over their images unless they're an employee, but instead license them to their subjects. Individual clients pay for the services rendered and for the license to use the photos for personal use, while a company will likely pursue more specific commercial usage so they can reproduce and sell the image on merch, publish them on billboards and in ads, etc.
I'm licensing your photos for you AND your tattoo artist to use for personal and print use. The three or more chosen photos you share with your tattoo artist will include a license limited to publishing in their portfolio and printing for display purposes only.
Let me know which package caught your eye, and we'll connect on the best way to move forward.
